Application mode:
Soles preparation
The composition of rubber soles is very important, the type of polymers and specially the auxiliary products added.
The halogenation can be affected by ageing, oxidation, migration or superficial degradation of the materials.
En practice, the halogenation process is directed mainly to thermoplastic rubber (TR). The composition of TR is very important.
Due to superficial contamination of the materials, we recommend surface cleaning with hydrocarbon solvents before halogenation. Occasionally, surface cleaning is not sufficient and surface roughing is recommended.
Application of Solucion Halogenate:
Manually: by brush (without metallic parts)
Half-automatic or automatic: Halogenation by spraying machines (“IRON FOX” type)
Drying time before glueing
Manual halogenation: 1 hour
Spray halogenation: 20-30 min.
Storing of halogenated soles:
In comparison to roughed soles where the preparation is useful only for a short time, the halogenation process keeps the surface in an activated state for a longer period. The storing conditions are important to avoid premature ageing. Take care for dusty or humid environment, temperature variations etc.
For thermoplastic rubber the max. storing time is about 3 months.
For natural rubber, we recommend 24 hours max. For longer storing, previous tests have to be carried out.
Thermoplastic and natural rubber soles may be glued with our PLASTIKOL P-1HN after halogenation and storing time is up to several monthes (ready for bonding).
Observations:
• Application of Solucion Halogenate requires recipients of polyethylene, ceramic or glass.
• NEVER USE METALLIC PARTS WITH SOLUCION HALOGENANTE
• Avoid product contact with skin or eyes. Protect hands with rubber gloves.
• Use the product in good ventilated rooms.
The product conservation you can be verified by some simple tests:
• Solucion Halogenate has to be transparent and no crystalline deposits are seen.
• Solucion Halogenate smells strongly, dominating the organic solvent.
• Solucion Halogenate is not acid. pH indicators are not colored to red.
NOTE: It is nearly impossible to control the application and conditions of use of this product. We guarantee the uniformity and quality of our product, but the user is fully responsible for the correct application.
The recommendations are based on serious studies in our laboratories and our experience. However, the user has to carry out the appropriate tests due to the diversity of the materials in the market and the different ways of application out of our control. The user of this product is entirely responsible of its application.
